NuFusion, Henderson State University's exciting jazz ensemble, will perform at the Woodlands Auditorium on March 3, 2011.  The group, which was formed more than 15 years ago, includes about 20 student musicians and features a standard big band horn and rhythm section with lead and background vocalists.

Under the direction of Professor of Percussion and Jazz Dr. Rick Dimond, who is also the Principal Timpanist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra,  NuFusion is a student-arranged jazz ensemble, in which students select, arrange and work out pieces of music that interest them for performance. The group plays everything from 1940s big band music to current pop hits, many of the tunes featuring vocalists.  Previous concerts have included music of a wide variety of artists such as Benny Goodman, Hoagie Carmichael, the Beatles, the B-52s, Ricky Martin, Harold Arlen, Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker and more.  “Our crowds know they’ll hear something they know or have at least heard before,” said Dimond.
